Pastoral Support

Care, support and guidance is provided for students in the PRU in a variety of ways, designed to make sure every child feels cared for and any safeguarding issues can be picked up on at the earliest possible stage.

Firstly, small class sizes and a large adult to child ratio means that our staff have a personal relationship with every student under their care. Secondly, each child has a designated pastoral support officer who liaise with teachers,  centre staff and families to monitor any issues your child may be having. Finally, the PRU has strong relationships with outside agencies so specialist advice can be called upon.

The Pastoral Support Team comes under the direction of the Assistant Head for Safeguarding K Barratt.  The DSL , Jennie Lea supports the work of the Pastoral Support Officers(PSOs) who work directly with the nominated centres including AP centres. They are the key point of contatc for any pastoral or safeguarding issues for pupils. PSOs attend both statutory and non- statutory meetings for pupils including but not exclusively CP, CIN, LAC,PEP reviews, professionals meetings and strategy meetings.  The work of the Home School Liasion Officer and Attendance Officer support the pastoral needs of the child.
