Pathway 1
A supported 6-week journey from Clayton to successful mainstream reintegration:
Centralised reintegration: All pupils returning to mainstream education are supported through the Clayton Reintegration Centre.
Targeted support: Each pupil receives personalised intervention from a reintegration mentor, alongside direct support from the Clayton centre team.
Preparation and readiness: Over approximately six weeks, pupils are supported to identify an appropriate mainstream school, address barriers to education following their previous permanent exclusion and ensure they are ready to reintegrate.
School allocation: Once a suitable school is identified via IYFAP, an information-sharing meeting takes place between MSPRU and identification of a start date.
Supported transition: Pupils begin at their mainstream school with appropriate support in place, with reviews every two weeks to monitor attendance, behaviour, progress and wellbeing.
Six-week outcome: Where reintegration is successful, pupils transition to single registration with their mainstream school.
Flexible approach: Where concerns remain around attendance, behaviour or progress, an extension period can be applied to provide additional time and support before the pupil is fully settled.
