Attendance at the Manchester Secondary Pupil Referral Unit

Regular school attendance is essential in enabling pupils to achieve their full potential. At Manchester Secondary Pupil Referral Unit, we recognise that good attendance is a key factor in supporting pupils to access learning, develop resilience and build the confidence and skills needed for adulthood.

We adopt a support-first approach to attendance. Positive relationships and clear, consistent communication with parents and carers are central to identifying and addressing any barriers to attendance. We work collaboratively with families to understand individual needs and to put appropriate support in place.

As a provision, we follow Manchester Local Authority’s statutory attendance processes. However, our priority is always to work in partnership with pupils and families to secure improvements in attendance through early intervention, understanding and tailored support.
